Welcome to The Corporate Witch Pirate, so named after the nickname was coined to describe my life as a business undergraduate student, future corporate employee, and lover of all things pirate and Harry Potter related.
I once tried to keep all my weirdness and nerdy obsessions to myself in an attempt at being "normal." Boring. While I might not be everyone's cup of tea, I discovered I was happier and gained more respect from my friends and peers when I decided to let my freak flag fly and open up about my quirkiness. I stopped being ashamed to admit that I've been writing Harry Potter fan fiction for ten years now. I started wearing all the edgy, goth clothes that I'd always admired but had been too nervous to wear. And I couldn't be happier.
I've also recently discovered just how important it is to hang onto the things you love and that make you, well, "you." After spending a significant portion my college career stressed and striving for success without giving myself a break, I realized that a GPA or salary wasn't enough to fulfill me. Writing is my calling, and if I don't have time to do what I love, no amount of success is worth it. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to start a career in the business world...and I hope it provides me with a way to support my writing and fashion habit.
With this blog, I'm hoping to share how I straddle the line between fantasy and reality everyday, and hopefully encourage others to do the same time. And, it gives me an excuse to do what I love: dress up in edgy outfits and write more. :)
